Success is a Team Sport

I’ve always wanted to be included in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ book.

It’s one of those things you dream of as a child, where you try bending backwards, jumping high, doing strange things … all to really just  figure out “am I really that extra- ordinary?” “Do I have any hidden talents?”

Like many others, I too loved watching the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ programme on television and flick through the book with excitement and amusement.

20 years later the dream of achieving a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title is just a day away from being a reality.

The only thing is, this time it’s no longer just about me, about that little girl who wanted to be in the book. Its about my team, our company, our partners and the clients, and the 600 people who join us at the Mermaid Theatre for the London Brand Accelerator conference. — It’s about all those who share the vision of breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title. About the ones who dare to dream.

Tomorrow (17th October 2014), we attempt the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Most people attending a business speed-networking event.

Many have failed this world record attempt yet we take a giant leap and hope to succeed.

We’ve prepared for months for this day.  I’ve had the support of my wonderful team who’ve worked relentlessly with me. I have also been challenged by the doubts of a few.

Being challenged does increase what we call ‘stress levels’ but I chose to rise above the stress rather than drown in it.

[blockquote]Life is for living and if nothing is ventured, nothing is gained.[/blockquote]

So with that spirit, we’ve marched on..

Our aim was to get 600 people who work for a business or own one to attend the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt. Today, we have more than 600 people attending and tickets have almost SOLD OUT (only a few VIP/GOLD remain).

I couldn’t have done that without the help of the team, partners, clients and all those who went above and beyond to support us..

Also an important part of this journey has been the community we are a part of — what we fondly call the KPI Community.

Success is a team sport!

[blockquote]There’s a difference between triumph and achievement. Achievements can be seen by other people. Triumphs are only experienced by those who were there and participated.[/blockquote]

If we succeed in our GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt,  it will be an achievement.

We will each get a certificate from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™, for £20 from their website and we can proudly display this on our office wall.

[blockquote]If we don’t, it will remain a triumph – a triumph  that you were there with us to attempt it.[/blockquote]

For those who couldn’t attend the day, but are with us in spirit, thank you (and do wish us luck!)
