After six years of what we all know is the biggest recession UK has faced, the economy finally seems to be on a steady pace of revival.
Recently, IMF raised its growth forecast for the UK to 3.2% as Britain’s economy is finally back to where it was pre-recession. The UK economy has grown by 0.8% in the second quarter of 2014 with GDP expanding by 3.1% on an annual basis. How has this happened? David Cameron said, “thanks to the very hard work of the British people, we’ve reached a major milestone”.
And this is true. Everyone I know in London does work hard whether they are an employee or own their own business.
I remember when I moved from sunny Singapore to cloudy London thinking the cloud of “doom and gloom” wasn’t just the weather but also the financial report.
Business felt hard for most. But it has been since the start of 2014 that I can feel a change in the sentiment.
In my recent comment on BBC News , I shared that businesses we work with in the UK are feeling “more positive about the economy” and this has led to an increased confidence in investing in themselves with training and development. They are also increasingly using business cash flow rather than debt to pay for their training. Overall, the businesses we work with are creating jobs as they are managing increased demand for their services. The sentiment in the market is positive and we feel like the economy is finally back on track and money is flowing a lot easier.” (Click the image below to see the full video)
I believe small and micro businesses should feel confident and proud. They’ve helped tackle the recession head on with 367,000 more self-employed people in the UK in four years.
Makes me wonder .. If we could get only half of these people to get enough attraction through business where they could hire one more person, we could create 1.8 million more jobs in the next year.
How’s that idea for creating jobs and growing UK’s economy?
Look out for our next event in London which will be record breaking, more details are on : http://www.keypersonofinfluence.com/uk/
